Ghorepani Trekking

Ghorepani (which used to be a rest stop where ancient traders found water (pani in Nepali) for their horses (ghoda in Nepali).  You will experience sunrise at Poon Hill, with breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks of the Annapurna Sanctuary, including Gangapurna, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Hiunchuli. 

Enjoy the energizing fresh mountain air while you are totally enthralled with the breathtaking view of the dramatic Annapurna and Fishtail range. Hiking in the serene mountains is truly a blessing and it is made even better with the presence of the Himalaya. The sense of joy that comes to you while you see the snow capped mountains is indescribable; you just feel it and enjoy it.

200 km west of Kathmandu is the unbelievably beautiful city of Pokhara, a six hours bus ride or twenty five minutes flight from Kathmandu, it is the main-gate way to the Ghorepani Poon hill trek. From Pokhara there is another one and half hour drive to Nayapul where your trek of the life time starts. As you walk the rugged trails, you will enjoy the beauty of nature as you cross small beautiful mountain streams, green hills that overlook the white Himalayan peaks and eventually watch the sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range.

This trek goes from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, Poon hill, then to Tadapani and Ghandruk or Jhinu then back to Nayapul where we drive back to Pokhara.  This short but spectacular trek will make you fall in love with the Nepal Himalayan Mountains, and make you want to see more.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport transfer to your hotel. Short briefing will follow concerning the necessary formalities and your trekking itinerary. Depending upon your arrival time you may spend free time visiting nearby sanctuaries or resting.

Day 02: Kathmandu
After your breakfast, starts your Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour around Kathmandu Valley Pshupatinath, Bouddha Nath, Swayambhu and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening sample a delicious traditional Nepali dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara (910m)
Breakfast at hotel then travel to Pokhara by tourist bus, check in at hotel in Pokhara then evening sightseeing in Pokhara and Overnight stay at hotel.Your trekking guide will meet you at your hotel at 06:30 am to escort you to the aiport, from where we take a plane to Pohkara, which takes about 25 minutes of  flight time.  This leaves more of the day for exploring Pokhara. Highlights include a visit to Bhimsen Mandira  temple known for its erotic carvings, and perhaps boating on Phewa Lake, famed for the Patale Chhango and  Devi’s Falls. Over night in Pokhara.

Day 04: Pokhara(910m)
Early morning go to Sarangkot for seeing Sunrise and Annapurna Mountain.Back to hotel then after breakfast at hotel. Visit in Pokhara valley, Boating in Fewa lake, visit of David Fall and Mahendra Cave and overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 05:Naya Pul (New bridge), to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m)
After breakfast at around 07:30 hrs drive to Naya Pul (42km) by tourist vehicle via the large village of Lumle and walk for about 20 minutes to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town. The trail follows the main street of Birethanti, going through bamboo forests and past a large waterfall and swimming hole. Beyond a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami where you have lunch. After lunch, climb steadily up the side of the valley, reaching Hile at 1495m near Tikhe Dhunga (4 hrs).Over night in Tikhe Dhunga .

Day 06:Tikhe Dungha Trek to Ghorepani (2850m)
After Breakfast From Tikhe Dhunga the trail crosses a stream on a suspension bridge near the camp site at Tikhe Dhunga. The trail ascends a steep stone staircase (which has about 3300 steps) to the large Magar village Ulleri at 2080m. Above the village, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There is a camp site for a rest and water stop one hour’s walk above Ulleri. The trail crosses two sparkling streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti where we stop for lunch. Thanti is a Nepali word meaning “rest house”. In the winter the trail can be covered with snow. From Nangethanti climb to Ghorepani at 2750m, from here we can see the spectacular panorama of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Tukuche Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Tarke Kang (7193m). Over night In Ghorepani .

Day 07: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2520m)
An early start and a 60-minute hike to Poon Hill (3195m) leads to a brilliant spectacle .an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about 40 minutes there, descend to Ghorepani for breakfast before the trek to Tadapani. The trail leads along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deorali (2960m). Then start the descend to Banthanti, leading to Tadapani . Over Night in Tadapani .

Day 08: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950m)

The Ghandruk trail descends steeply through forests to the village of Ghandruk where we will arrive around noon. We will overnight here so have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office and museum. As well as take time to explore this maze like village. Over night in Ghandruk .

Day 09: Ghandruk to Tolka (1790m)
Today we descend from Ghandruk to the Modi Khola river, which we cross by a suspension bridge. Our trail then climbs up a stone staircase to the village of Landruk, a Gurung village at 1620 meter. We will pass some unusual oval-shaped houses before ascending to the village of Tolka on a long stone staircase . Over night in Tolka .

Day 10: Tolka to Phedi and Pokhara.

Today our trek leads us by a steep ascent to another small settlement called Deorali  a hill at 2150m. This is another village then the one we passed on day 4, although they both have the same name. From here we descend on a stone paved trail to the village of Pothana (1990m) before reaching Phedi (950m). Arriving in Phedi mid-morning, return back to Pokhara . Over night in Pokhara.

Day 11: Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Breakfast at hotel then return back to Kathmandu and Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 12: Kathmandu

Leisure until transfer to the airport for onward flight.
